-Stony Brook Research Assistants (RAs) Come To Albany to Rally for Contract Justice
WHEN: New Date Friday November 20th 1:00PM
WHERE: Research Foundation office, corner of Broadway and State St.
WHY: Last December Research Assistants at Stony Brook University voted to join the Communication Workers of America Local 1104. They have been negotiating for their first contract with their employer, the SUNY Research Foundation, ever since. They have decided it is time to bring their fight to Albany! Join us at this rally to escalate the pressure campaign to push the Research Foundation to settle to a fair first contract.

We’re watching closely to see if the U.S. Senate begins its debate on health care this week. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will unveil the Senate bill tonight and we could see the first vote to begin debate as early as Saturday. Read More>>

Today at the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and other leaders joined together to call for urgent action to create jobs and rebuild the economy. In a live webcast panel discussion, the consensus was clear: Without quick action, an entire generation could be mired in economic turmoil. Members of Greater Capital Region Building and Construction Trades Council, as well as CDALF leaders, participated in a rally on 4/22 at the Capitol.  Workers were advocating for Assembly Bill A3705 which would clarify the definition of public work.
