Schenectady Area Labor Council

Section 5. The election shall be held at the regular meeting in the month of February in each even numbered year. The President shall appoint an election committee to oversee all aspects of the election at the meeting prior to nominations. No individual seeking office shall serve on the election committee. The election shall not be postponed except for absence of a quorum or by order of the AFL-CIO. A postponed election shall be held at the first succeeding regular meeting with due notice being given all affiliated organizations, or as may be directed by the AFL-CIO.

Section 6. Nominations shall be opened at the regular meeting in the month of January. No delegate is eligible to be nominated unless he/she is a delegate to the council. Nominees for office must be present at the nomination meeting and must signify acceptance of declination at that meeting. An eligible delegate in good standing who must be absent when nominations take place, may become a candidate by so stating his/her intention in writing and mailing or presenting same to the Secretary of this Council prior to the nomination meeting.

No less than 45 nor more than 120 days prior to an election of a Central Labor Council officers, the Secretary of the Central Labor Council shall compile and notify each affiliated organization of the availability of a list containing the following information: (i) the name and address of each of the Central Labor Councils elected officers (including executive board members); (ii) the name and mailing address of each of the organizations affiliated with the Central Labor Council; (iii) the name of each of the affiliated organization's principal officers; (iv) each organization's projected per capita voting strength and delegate entitlement at the election; and (v) to the extent available, the names and mailing addresses of the delegates.

Section 6. Installation of officers shall be held at the March meeting, except that an officer-elect who is unavoidably absent shall be installed at the earliest possible meeting following the election, or may be given the obligation at a meeting of the Executive Board.
