Painters Picket Ellis Hospital!

On Tuesday Feb 2, District Council 9 the IUPAT local 201, instituted a picket against Saban Painting, a subcontractor of U.W. Marx, General Contractor at the Mcclellan Campus of Ellis Hospital (600 Mcclellan Ave, Schenectady). District Council 9 shut the job down, with support from other building trades including the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 7, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 236, Teamsters Local 294, Ironworkers Local 12, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 106, Elevator Constructors Local 35, as well as the New York State Nurses Association, National Association of Letter Carriers Local 358, and of course the Area Labor Federation. The picket stood for 2 Days, with a picture of the action the second day in the Daily Gazette. The IUPAT filled Federal Charges against U.W. Marx which were since withdrawn, the line has stood down while we attack the contractor from another angle, hopefully sitting down with the Board of Directors from Ellis Hospital and coming to a solution through other avenues.
